Parking reservation is one of the effective ways to increase the occupancy rate of parking spaces. However, due to traffic congestion, traffic accidents and other reasons, some drivers may not park on time as scheduled, resulting in low utilization of parking spaces and waste of parking resources. In view of this, this paper proposes a parking space reservation method based on multi-stage auction to solve the problem of low utilization rate of parking spaces due to drivers being late or absent. Different from previous studies, this paper proposes a “real-time reporting strategy for drivers’ driving conditions” to guide drivers to report their lateness. Improve parking space utilization and reduce vehicle cruising time. In order to encourage late drivers to report in time, reward drivers who report, and punish drivers who do not report and waste parking resources, the Vickrey-Clarke-Groves auction mechanism is used to determine the reward and punishment price for drivers. Research shows that the parking reservation mechanism based on multi-stage Vickrey-Clarke-Groves auctions brings more utility to the parking lot than the traditional “first come first serve “Real-time reporting strategy of driver’s driving condition” can effectively restrain the large fluctuation of parking lot utility and driver’s parking benefit caused by late arrival of driver. At the same time, the cruising time of the parking vehicle is also reduced, and good social benefits can be obtained.
