In order to get information about the optical properties of tropospheric aerosol under various atmospheric conditions, we have developed a Mie lidar system and executed accurate, intensive and long-term tropospheric aerosol measurements at 532 nm wavelength. The measurement site is located at Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, 15 km west of Hefei (31.90/spl deg/ N, 117.16/spl deg/ E), China. The lidar system is mainly composed of a Nd:YAG laser transmitter, a receiving telescope, a signal detector and a data processor.
