Bragg gratings in tapered waveguides are investigated numerically and experimentally. A 1 cm long 40 dB grating with 1 nm 3 dB bandwidth is demonstrated. Numerical modelling shows that a bandwidth of 2 nm is achievable, maintaining single mode operation.
