This paper describes a novel optimized orthogonal hybrid firefly based ant colony method (NOOHFACM) as a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for photovoltaic (PV) systems with water pumping applications. The proposed MPPT method established rapid convergence velocity and optimal PV power tracking under changing environmental conditions compared to firefly and ant colony optimized (ACO) algorithms. Moreover, the hybrid fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based PI controller is employed for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) considering PV water pumping applications. Practical validation using dSPACE DS1104 interfaced is carried out to confirm the system attainment.
