Increase in productivity, lowering of operating cost and environment concerns are driving electrification-hybrid and/or battery electric in off-highway applications. There are different aspects to Off-highway electrification. Some of these are powering the wheels (traction), provide power to the implements, focus on precision usage, replacing hydraulic operations either by an electrohydraulic option or with electric only solution. Wide range of opportunities in off-highway segment allows possibility of component commonality across different products/vehicle platforms. However, applications may look similar, but each has its unique requirements. Hence, early design verification, before vehicle build/sub-system build, is required while adopting components/sub-systems from an existing environment to a new one. The paper talks about the challenges for one such feature of an off-highway application, early design verification approach and design guidelines/recommendations.
