A novel monolithically integrated Michelson Interferometer using intersecting twin-contact semiconductor optical amplifiers is proposed whereby the two arms are gain imbalanced to give noise suppression. Experimental OSNR improvements of 6.2dB for 8ps pulses is demonstrated.
