Many applications are being developed in the field of precision material processing using high repetition rate, diode-pumped solid state lasers in the ultraviolet wavelengths. This presentation reviews and discusses the developments in this laser-based precision material processing as well as the advances that are being made on the UV and ultrafast laser sources.
