Grating based devices have received wide popularity in a variety of fiber optic communication applications due to their versatile characteristics and compactness. One of the important features of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is its extremely narrow bandwidth. In a WDM network the grating filters can be used as wavelength selective and add-drop devices. In the paper we study the crosstalk characteristics of a nonuniform fiber Bragg grating (NUFBG) used in optical networks as a demultiplexer.
