In modern societies, especially aging societies such as that in Japan, there is a need for an effective driving support system. One of the aims of a commuter system, one possible type of intelligent transport system, is to provide drivers with information that they can not usually obtain by themselves. For such a system, we propose a "distributed sensory-intelligence architecture," which is an architecture that interconnects multiple sensory-intelligence agents. These sensory-intelligence agents are arranged in an "intelligent space" and interact to provide support for drivers. Through experiments we showed that the proposed "distributed sensory-intelligence architecture" enables valuable driving-support information to be provided to the driver by combining re-composition of environmental information with recognition of the driver's intention.
