New space exploration plan is developing in China to send and return spacecraft from the moon and it is expected that the vehicles have manual control abilities with which pilots can handle the unexceptional emergency in the final rendezvous and docking approach. In this paper, a pilot simulation of teleoperation rendezvous task was conducted to study spacecraft handling qualities of teleoperation rendezvous and docking in the final docking approach. The predictive display model was designed based on orbital dynamic to overcome the influence of time delay in transaction between ground control center and on-board vehicle in lunar orbit. The simulation experiments were carried out on the nine degrees of freedom teleoperation rendezvous and docking simulation platform. Nine aerospace students and teachers served as evaluation pilots, providing Cooper-Harper and TLX (task load index) rating scale. Results of simulation studies indicated that satisfactory handling qualities could be obtained with the predictive display model. And this highlights the need for predictive approach for accuracy teleoperation rendezvous control in lunar orbit with large time delay.
