This paper presents the design and implementation of an integration platform with on-board thin-film local heaters, which assist the active alignment and subsequent solder attachment of a single-mode fiber with respect to an injection laser. The proposed hybrid platform has the potential to emerge as a versatile alignment platform for single-mode photonic devices within a reasonable cost, because it eliminates the need for laser-welding for precision fiber alignment.
