Aiming at the berth allocation problem of mixed berth layout with both Indented Berths and Marginal Berths, a Mixed Integer Programming Model is constructed to minimize the total ship arrival time and customer dissatisfaction. Then, the Separate Strategy in which Indented Berths serve only large container ships and Marginal Berths serve only small container ships is introduced, and the Integrated Strategy of Indented Berths and Marginal Berths serving both large and small container ships is proposed as well. To solve the model, a Genetic Algorithm is designed by using the two-dimensional integer chromosome coding. The example shows that the Integrated Strategy can greatly reduce the total time of container ships in port and customer dissatisfaction, which is superior to the Separate Strategy, thus verifying the effectiveness of the integrated strategy.
