This work is an ongoing investigation of attitude control (/spl pi//2 rad rotation) as well as vibration suppression of a very flexible structure. A nominal fuzzy logic controller had been designed and used as a basis for design of an optimized fuzzy controller. The optimization algorithm and procedure have been explained in an earlier paper. This paper presents simulation results of both the nominal and optimized systems. Clear improvement in the performance of the optimized controller in comparison to that of the nominal system is evident. A computer program is developed to animate results of the simulation in a three dimensional space. The program runs under GNU/Linux and uses GTK and OpenGL for visualization.
