A three-phase five-level hybrid multilevel converter with switched clamped capacitors and with balancing of capacitor voltages is proposed in this work. The switched capacitor provides an additional voltage level and a compacted configuration, whereas maintaining capacitor voltage achieves the optimal per-formance of output power quality. The working of the proposed converter is presented in this paper with various switching states and capacitor voltage balancing strategy. The performance of the three-phase configuration of the proposed converter is evaluated in MAT LAB Simulink environment using the multicarrier level-shifted Pulse width modulation with RL load and with capacitor voltage balancing scheme.
