The electro-optic coefficients of stoichiometric lithium tantalate were discovered to dramatically depend on electrodes used. r/sub 33/ of 35.8/spl plusmn/0.1 pm/V and 2.0/spl plusmn/0.2pm/V respectively for liquid electrode and Pt electrode were measured using Mach-Zehnder interferometer.
