This work reports on cochannel interferences originating from sources in the coverage area of the localizer beam of an instrument landing system. The interfering sources can produce a valid false runway axis in space which may deviate an aircraft in automatic flight conditions from the prescribed approach route. Such sources may originate from ISM equipment.
