This paper introduces dc and small-signal circuit models for the PWM buck-boost converter that take into account parasitic components, such as the ESR of the fitter capacitor, the ESR of the inductor, the transistor on-resistance, and the diode forward resistance and offset voltage. Dc and small-signal circuit models for the buck-boost converter are introduced. The dc voltage transfer function and the efficiency of the converter are derived from the dc model. Small-signal open-loop characteristics are derived from the small-signal model. The obtained expressions are illustrated graphically for a converter whose component values were measured.<>
