Generally, lead-acid batteries with a modified recipe which has a higher charge absorption capability to facilitate efficient regenerative energy harnessing. However, the potential of Lithium-Ion batteries in this field has not been fully evaluated. The objective of this research paper is to experimentally evaluate and compare the dynamic charge acceptance capability at multiple partial state of charge points and different relaxation periods by simulating real-time conditions. The limitations and tradeoffs of different cell chemistries under similar test conditions will be studied. Finally, comprehensive performance curves with energy recuperation trends will be derived which will give a bird's view on of different Lithium-ion chemistries potential in city driving conditions where it is subjected to abrupt charging and discharge pulses. Moreover, the ideal operation temperature will be experimentally evaluated for different chemistries with different soaking temperatures.
