In daily life, the role of the brake in a motor vehicle is very important. Vehicles generally use conventional brakes such as disk brake, drum brake, etc. Eddy current brake (ECB) can be an alternative for conventional brakes. ECB is an electromagnetic brake that uses the principle of eddy current brake. Eddy current is produced by the induction when the rotor rotates due to the magnetic field produced by the stator. ECB has some parameters that influence its performance, such as the amount of coil and the air gap between the disk and magnet. This research discusses the Single Disk Axial Eddy Current Brake by utilizing a semi-permanent magnet. This research aims to investigate the relationship between braking torque with the amount of coil and the air gap in single disk axial ECB. Finite element method (FEM) is used in ECB performance modeling. According to the data, it is found that the less the amount of coil, the less the braking torque will be. The result is the best performance of ECB when using 360 conductors and an air gap of 0.5 mm.
