Automobiles have been increasing rapidly with many smart features incorporated, which are targeting for connected vehicles and autonomous driving to be included in future automotive. This is to mainly solve crucial problems resulting in accidents, traffic congestion that are threatening the society. Road accidents are mainly due to driver drowsiness, over speeding and improper obstacle recognition. The model aims to detect driver alertness and shift to an adaptive steering control (autonomous driving) in emergency situations to avoid collisions due to driver drowsiness or panic state .The main focus is to enhance the vehicle control where it could automatically apply brake or steer away from an obstacle, based on obstacle detection and avoidance algorithms. The driver alert system is developed as a Wi-Fi based vehicular communication module with a Mobile application to notify collision warning to the drivers of nearby vehicles to avoid rear-end collisions and make travel safer while reducing accident-induced congestion.
