The technologies of location are revolutioning the way we experience the world, and making it possible to identify an Internet user's location, are opening the options to approaches that eventually will alter the social media, the electronic commerce and the communications on a global scale. We have decentralized the production and distribution of media and also for energy, this will continue for commerce, social action and networking, with technologies that will extend the global online network to anyone with Internet connection or a mobile device enabling countless locally distributed networks to form in the real world. This paper describes a benchmark between Google maps and Yahoo maps and their most significant differences among the implementation of each others APIs. This paper also lists the characteristics that each of the services either Google or Yahoo have, such as supported web browsers, features like degrees of motion, zoom, 3d mode, displaying as well the technologies used, the map providers and map types. Displaying a map with a marker in either Google or Yahoo is very simple and in this paper is explained the process to generate a base map, center the map, locate the desired ubication and place a marker.
