Some history is recalled about what was done in Italy following a proposal by G. Marconi for the development of the first Italian radars during the 10 years from 1933 to 1943. Italian researchers worked without any connection with the activity at that time of American, English, and German research groups because of military secrecy. The people in Italy who independently developed the first Italian naval radar can fully understand and appreciate the admirable work done by R. M. Page, winner of 1977 Pioneer Award.
