We present the results of using polymer-dispersed liquid crystal for three-dimensional bit optical data storage based on its two-photon induced polarisation sensitivity. A bit density of 23.5 Gbits/cm/sup 3/ and complete erasure of the data via ultra-violet illumination were achieved.
