At the days while satellite manufacturing and launching issues are being discussed and studied in Turkey for the year 2020 and beyond, the continued growth of lightweight aerospace structure needs has placed a considerable demand on aerospace industry to manufacture systems such as satellites and launchers at lower cost and higher operating efficiency by keeping the safety level as required. The demand of reduction of structural weight introduced composite materials to aerospace industry for the last a few decades. A widely utilization of the advanced composite materials in current launching equipment and air vehicles required the development of new technologies to improve monitoring of the composite aerospace components such as fuel tanks, boosters, fuselage or wings. This paper aims to make an overview for structural health monitoring technologies developed for aerospace applications, specifically for the composite structures.
