Frequency chirp in LiNbO/sub 3/ electrooptic modulators is assessed and numerically evaluated using the FDTD method. Affecting parameters and suggested configurations are highlighted and finally, its influence is illustrated by propagating frequency chirped pulses in a dispersive fiber.
