Optics can offer a high degree of parallelism, which is suitable for free-space optical systems. One type of free-space optical system is holographic switches. We have already reported a preliminary study of holographic switching using an optically addressed ferroelectric liquid crystal spatial light modulator (OAFLC-SLM). This paper reports a 9/spl times/9 non-blocking holographic switch using an OAFLC-SLM having 3/spl times/3 pixels.<>
