By introducing the technical background of self-driving cars, combined with the analysis of the current motor vehicle traffic accident liability, this paper clarifies the tort liability in the event of a traffic accident of automated vehicles, and expounds the thinking on the legal response of scientific and technological innovations which are applied in the traditional products, with a view of enhancing the confidence in the stability and applicability of the existing legal system in the ever-changing contemporary society.
