Induction motors play an essential role in industries for their inclusive applications. Their fault detection quite remains a challenge for the researchers by using various optimization techniques. An intelligent method to detect the short-circuit fault in the stator winding of three phase induction motor is proposed in this paper. The short circuit fault constitutes phase to phase short and phase to ground short. The fuzzy logic approach is used to make decisions about the motor condition based on the magnitude of stator current. It detects and classifies the type of fault occurred in the motor. The fault analysis is done using simulation in MATLAB-SIMULINK.
