We are describing the progress made towards a compact airborne ultra sensitive atmospheric trace gas sensor using fiber pumped difference frequency sources. A new miniature DFG source design and advanced spectroscopic detection scheme is presented enabling absorbance detection limits of 9E-7 for 100 seconds data acquisition time.
