Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a method through which the environmental impacts of a product or system is analyzed, during its life cycle, in terms of sustainability. The transport sector is one of the largest contributors to climate change, pollution and noise emissions. E-mobility and electric vehicles offer a major opportunity to solve the external negative effects associated with internal combustion engines. Therefore, the development of electric vehicle (EV) technology plays an important role in sustainable transport. In this study the main aspects which must be taken into account to accomplish a more accurate analysis of the environmental impact of electrical vehicles are discussed. Thus, the goal of this paper is setting up the indicators in order to deploy an LCA analysis of a battery electric vehicle. Dividing the EV into subsystems, an analysis was started on permanent magnets in the electric motor.
