The generation of power from the wind turbine generator is important as the non- renewable energy sources are lessening day-by-day. Since the windmills are placed far away from consumer end, there is a need of longer transmission line for transfer of electric power from the wind systems. The long-distance line reduces the real power transfer. Hence, for the enhancement of the power, the capacitor compensation is required which can be accomplished through the Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC). This paper aims to utilize the series FACTs device, TCSC in a Squirrel Cage Induction Generator based Wind Energy Conversion Systems for the improvement of power flow. The study, design and analysis of TCSC in the WECs and its way of controlling power flow is proposed. The resonance oscillations caused due to the insertion of capacitor in the line also observed from the simulation results. Modeling and simulation of the TCSC based WECs is done by using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
