This paper deals with the problem of coherent detection of radar target in clutter characterized as spherically invariant random process (SIRP) and thermal noise. The probability density function of the SIRP clutter plus thermal noise is derived, and the optimal detector against such background is given. The performance of the detector in a special case is analyzed.
