We have carried out chemical analysis work on some meteorite and meteorite candidates found in Turkey. Major and minor element abundances of samples are used to decide on the nature of claimed "stones". Results are also compared with the literature. A need for a national meteorite inventory and data base is highlighted and its possible uses are mentioned.
