The paper shows the results of the research concerning the determination of aircraft positioning accuracy with the use of Global Positioning System and European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service. Experimental flights were conducted in 2013, in south-eastern part of Poland. A precise aircraft position was determined with the use of dual frequency geodetic Topcon receivers with centimeter accuracy. The reference position was confronted with the data logged by two navigation receivers — Thales MobileMapper and Septentrio AsteRx2i HDC, IMU enhanced GPS/GLONASS dual-frequency receiver, which was used for the calculation of an accurate reference trajectory as well as for testing both the EGNOS accuracy and the protection level in autonomous and EGNOS mode. As a result of the research it turns out, that EGNOS does not meet requirements for SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation Service) operations in this area.
