In this study, a redesign of a nano-satellite star tracker for operation at high slew rates is investigated. Small agile spacecraft often require a few arc second-accuracy attitude estimation for slew rates up to 15°/s. This paper develops a technology road-map to evolve a new generation of star trackers that are capable of estimating absolute attitude at high slew rates.
