A configuration to increase the bandwidth of cross gain modulation in SOA by means of a detuned optical filter is tested and the system robustness is investigated for rates of 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s. The optical filter is optimized to allow considerable increase in the extinction ratio of the converted signals.
