In this paper, the general description of the provision of transport services and the need for positioning of metro trains are discussed. Types of positioning systems used in the subway are specified - Interlocking (fixed block) and Communications Based Train Control CBTC (moving block). Algorithm for train positioning is developed and explained, parallel view for both Interlocking and CBTC systems.
