A new angular rate-based coning algorithm is proposed to improve the coning correction accuracy of the previous angular rate-based coning algorithm in maneuver environment. To design the new algorithm, it is needed to give the relationship between the uncompressed and the compressed angular rate-based algorithm forms, and to derive the uncompressed coning algorithm error residual in the given angular maneuver definition. The design principle of the new algorithm is to minimize the polynomial-expressed maneuver error residual under ensuring the coning performance of the previous compressed algorithm. The simulation indicates that the new 4-sample angular rate-based coning algorithm has an evident improvement in maneuver accuracy, compared with the previous 4-sample angular rate-based coning algorithm.
