Safety in the automotive industry is associated not only with the construction of vehicles and their equipment, but also with the emission of gaseous and particulate pollutants into the air generated during production and combustion of fuels. Therefore, more and more attention is being paid to the possibility of replacing at least part of conventional fuels with biofuels made from biomass. The technologies used to convert biomass into liquid and gaseous fuels are at various levels of development and technological readiness. The article presents current trends in the production of transport biofuels and their impact on the environment.
