The Automotive CAN bus carries a lot of valuable information that is obscure to the driver. Performance parameters like Engine Efficiency, Transmission efficiency, acceleration pedal position from different Electronic Control Units in a vehicle are available on the CAN Bus. The objective was to design a Real-time Data-logger for Diagnostics Display. Data acquisition from the bus is achieved by using microcontroller Arduino Uno R3 and MCP2515 CAN Bus Shield. Vector CANoe 9.0 is used for designing and simulating the CAN network. The data acquisition system is tested on this simulated network the data, thus, acquired is displayed on MATLAB GUI which can be used for fault detection and analysis.
