The motion estimation algorithm is one of the most important issues in the video coding standards. There are many fast motion estimation algorithms proposed to reduce the computation cost, which is critical for real time implementation. A new selected locations motion estimation algorithm will be presented here. In this technique a new location selection strategy is utilized to improve the accuracy while keeping the computation cost identical with other conventional motion estimation algorithms.
