In this paper, a new concept for resonantly pumped efficient and compact lasers based on Pr-doped LiYF/sub 4/ (YLF) crystals and ZBLAN glass fibres is reported. As pump source, a frequency-doubled optically pumped semiconductor laser (OPS) with an emission wavelength near 480 nm has been used.
