In this paper, spectral and laser characteristics of the near-infrared dyes lasing under flashlamp pumping is studied. The work aims to make dye laser tuned smoothly in the 680-800 nm region of spectrum with performance necessary for the second harmonic generation via nonlinear-optical crystal of a potassium dihydrophosphate. In the experiment the potential of using alcohol solvents is determined and some spectral and laser parameters of the dyes in these solvents for concentrations that provide small divergence of laser radiation are measured.
