Experimental and theoretical studies of electro-optical tunability of whispering gallery modes (WGMs) in high-Q monolithic lithium niobate resonators and their applicability for light modulation and filtering are reported. Properties of an optoelectronic microwave oscillator (OEO) based on an WGM LiNbO/sub 3/ resonator are discussed.
