A single-phase 5-switch 7-level boost type multilevel Inverter is presented to provide desired voltage and output levels. The Analysis and the operational principle along with its switching functions are elucidated in this work. As it is known that the Multilevel converters provide high power and lower output harmonics and lower commutation losses. Different case studies are carried out in order to asses the dynamic performance of the proposed system. To evaluate the theoretical analysis MATLAB/SIMULINK is used for simulation An experimental prototype is designed in the laboratory to validate the simulation. The control algorithm for the proposed inverter is provided by Spartan-6 FPGA.
