In this article, the inductor-inductor-capacitor-series (LCC-S) network and semi-active rectifier (SAR) are integrated with the matrix converter (MC)-based wireless power transfer (WPT) system to achieve the wide ranges of buck and boost conversion and power regulation without using the electrolytic capacitors. The life time and adaptability of the WPT system are improved. According to the analysis of the system characteristics, it reveals that there are two degrees of freedom in the novel topology, including the primary compensation inductance ( $L_{f}$ ) and rated primary MC current ( $I_{fn}$ ). The power loss model as the functions of $L_{f}$ and $I_{fn}$ is built for the first time. It reveals $L_{f}$ designed according to the rated port voltages causes the LCC-S-SAR WPT system to deviate from the maximum efficiency point. Taking the goal of maximizing efficiency as the constraint, a global optimization design method for $L_{f}$ and $I_{fn}$ based on the power loss model and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed. The correctness and practicality of the proposed design method are verified through the experiments.
