Coherent Optical OFDM is reviewed with emphasis on features unique to the photonic implementation relative to conventional wireless realizations. We compare with conventional single-carrier optical techniques, and explore the recently discovered phased-array effect substantially improving performance in the wake of dispersion and FWM nonlinearities
