We have explored three key aspects which are crucial to demonstrate an InP-based isolator with ferromagnetic contacts: the ohmic behaviour of the FeCo-semiconductor contact, the active layer with high TM-gain, and the magnetooptic behaviour of FeCo at 1.55 /spl mu/m.
