At present, most navigation software has the display function of real-time road conditions. However, the congestion status of the same road sections displayed by different navigation software is not necessarily the same. Because it is different for different software platforms to collect data, evaluate methods and standards of congestion status. Nowadays, navigation software usually uses taxi GPS to collect data points and calculate the average speed to find out the road congestion status. Based on this, this paper proposes a new method to measure the congestion status of road sections. Based on the taxi GPS trajectory data, we extract the vector characteristics of taxi trajectory data and obtain the number of taxi state vectors on the road segment to measure the congestion status of road sections. This method is more accurate than the current method of determining road conditions, and the method is more time-sensitive.
