The 21ST Century Aviation System can substantially improve the piloting of cargo and carrier aircraft with an onboard pilot/s and a remote copilot residing in a secure ground-based aircraft simulator. This paper will highlight the benefits, which are: to increase: •aircraft payload and fuel economy; •homeland security; •airport efficiency and automation; •safety and security of the public and edifices; •ADS-B utility and economical justification; •the real-time digital-data required for safe and secure 4-dimensional ATC/M and free-flight, and to decrease: •piloting and maintenance personnel costs; •aircraft avionics costs; •aircraft weight; •aircraft acquisition cost; •hijacking; •insurance costs; •the need for expensive runway expansion programs; •flight delays; •aircraft crashes; ..9/11 type disasters; ..decompression disasters; ..ground incursions, etc.; •unauthorized flights into restricted airspace; and •the need to recover flight data recorders.
